Seeding the Next Generation

Since 2012, UConn Extension’s Solid Ground program has been a lifeline for beginning farmers across Connecticut. Designed for growers with less than 10 years of experience, it offers workshops, cohort courses, one-on-one consulting, peer learning, and business tools — from soil science and climate-smart techniques to financial record-keeping and farm planning. Every year, Solid Ground expands its reach and impact, helping early-stage farmers start strong and more seasoned ones scale up, all while promoting resilience and sustainable practices.
